Physical Appearance:
Everything about Sanjiv Luthra that first meets the eye speaks of precision, cleanliness, order and sleekness. From his well-defined facial features, framed by a flawlessly maintained beard, to the silk dastaar and fashionable suits he wears. Similarly, when prepped for surgery, he makes certain every item he wears is on tightly and comes into no potentially infectious contact.
Personality:
Sanjiv is the sort of man who, when faced with the eternal moral struggle between profit and humanity, asks, “why can’t it be both?” Dr. Luthra seeks wealth unapologetically, yet also hones his craft as a surgeon both for its own sake and to help others. There is, after all, nothing in the Hippocratic Oath against turning a profit. Sanjiv has qualities which make him a natural leader but he sometimes veers into pull-up-by-the-bootstraps rhetoric that, while it resonates with some, others find alienating. Sanjiv has a tendency to dismiss the hardships of others and romanticize triumphs over his own; this is accompanied by a subtle authoritarian streak.
Biography:
Sanjiv Luthra was born the eighth son of a Sikh artisan just outside Lahore in 1883 under the British Raj. Despite that up until forty years ago Sikhs had held the region as the ruling class of an empire, the Luthra family story had never been one of princes or generals. They lived simply, though were far from depressingly poor, being skilled laborers. Still, Sanjiv was never satisfied with what his family had, his eyes always drifted enviously to wealthy men, unlike his family, whose gaze went to starving peasants with a sense of relief.
Partially motivated by these reasons, and partially to escape arranged marriage, Sanjiv joined the British Indian Army at fifteen to fight in the Tirah Campaign. The battles were bloody and Sanjiv got in the habit of figuring out how to dress his own minor combat injuries to avoid waiting around in the medic tents. When the officers noticed his growing proficiency, he was assigned part-time to assist the field medics. After Tirah, Sanjiv continued to study under the Sikh regiments’ medic corps, eventually seeing war again, this time as a full medic, in the Tibet expedition. At the Tibet invasion’s conclusion in 1904, Sajiv ended his military career with honors and secured a royal grant to study surgery in London. Here he would take up a medical practice before being interrupted during the First World War when he was called back into duty to serve as a medic for the famous Black Lions.
Allowed to leave military service again after the failed German offensive in the Spring of 1918, Sanjiv would meet his sire shortly after arriving home. The Assamite Clan had grown fascinated with the new ways to kill that had emerged during the War, and the Vizier who Embraced Sanjiv had been tasked with finding recruits with extensive first-hand knowledge in this field. Sanjiv’s earnest attempts to re-establish his career after the War sadly made him very visible to his Sire.
Over the next decades, Sanjiv’s expertise was put to use by his new Clan performing medical research. Sanjiv quickly grew resentful, however. Though he didn’t mind the immortality, he resented seeing his talents being used for nothing more than to find effective killing techniques for the Warriors instead of advancing medicine. Eventually Sanjiv’s discontent made him easy for Tegyrius to recruit into the Preservationist Conspiracy.
Afforded more leeway thanks to influence from high-ranking Preservationists, Sanjiv was able to pursue a globe-trotting medical career in exchange for scouting potential cities in which to establish Preservationist enclaves. One such city was Oddhaven. And, after ur-Shulgi arose, banned mortal religion, and burned all refractory Sorcerers to ash from a distance with its magics, Oddhaven became one of the safe havens to which the Viziers fled. Sanjiv very quickly became leader of the Oddhaven Viziers and, after they became a Pillar Clan in the Camarilla, he was named the city’s first Assamite Primogen.

It is a tenet of the Sikh religion that its followers be prepared to defend themselves and their communities against aggression; with the loyalist Assamites on the hunt, this is more significant to Sanjiv than ever before.
Domain: 4 (2 size, 2 security)
Sanjiv’s Celerity-enhanced surgery has made him one of the best currently practicing surgeons in the world. He owns a private practice and his clinic, located within Scarsborough, is recognized as his domain.
Generation: 4
Haven: 4 (Luxury, Security, Location, Staff, Guards)
Sanjiv spends his days the same place he spends most of his nights: his private practice. The benefits of using his clinic as a Haven include making hostile invasion or infiltration significantly more difficult. Not to mention that his commute consists of walking downstairs. The clinic has a daytime security guard who has Empathy and Brawl as specializations and a nighttime one who specializes in Alertness, Investigation and Brawl.
Herd: 3
Another major benefit in Sanjiv’s choice of residence is the ready availability of blood, whether directly from patients or in bags.
High Influence: 1 (Medical Community)
Resources: 4
The name Sanjiv Luthra is known around the world for his extraordinary talent and skill as a surgeon. This renown translates into a practice which attracts wealthy patients from around the world.
Status: 3
While an accomplished figure and Primogen much respected among his Clan, the brief period in which the Viziers have held the title of Pillar Clan in the Camarilla stymies Sanjiv’s advancements in the highly conservative Sect.
