Physical Appearance:
Ryn is a mix raced woman of Asian and White descent. Her father was Japanese and her mother Russian. She has sharp pointed features with large slanted, blue eyes. She has black straight hair that she keeps tied up in a bun at most times. Her whole body, save for her face, is covered in intricate, detailed tattoos of all styles. She wears torn black jeans, skater vans, and see-through mesh tank tops, so as for people to see the artwork adorning her body.
Personality:
Ryn is a dedicated tattoo artist, meticulous in her work. She is pricey, due to her particular times she’ll work and the intricate mastery with which she performs her craft. She is addicted to the sensation of needles puncturing her skin. She enjoys being tattooed for this reason, and will even partake in intravenous drugs with unknowing mortals, no longer for the rush from the actual drug, but rather to get the piercing sensation. She does not particularly ascribe any truth to the Setite teachings, but is valued as consul for her levelheadedness and separation from intrasect religious struggles. Her secular perspective makes her trusted by the rest of the Alliance to come to fair compromises when conflict arises.
She is level headed and reserved, with a dry, cutting sense of humor. Candid, to a fault at times, her advice is trusted among those seeking an outsider’s perspective. She typically only shares her opinions when asked specifically, unless you are receiving a tattoo from her. While working, she bares her soul to those she does her art on, both in word and in craft. The only aspects of Setite doctrine that really resonated with her was the nature of the soul as a limitless creative entity. Ryn displays this creation through those she tattoos.

Biography:
Ryn is a relatively young vampire, in comparison to most, an older neonate. She was born in 1961 in Tokyo. Her mother was Russian and had escaped the Soviet Union to Japan, where she met Ryn's father. Ryn's parents were an unmarried couple, due to biases in japan and interpersonal issues. Her mother left for the United States in 1977 when Ryn was sixteen. Ryn, heartbroken from abandonment, turned to drugs for respite. Though her soul was in turmoil, it influenced her art and inspired her talent for visual art. After many years of enabling her addiction, Yoshi Nakamura, ashamed of her, kicked his daughter out at the age of twenty.
Ryn fell into debt with the Yakuza, needing money for drugs, and paid it off with theft and her artistic talents. She took well to body art, such as piercing and tattoos. Her Sire, a leader within the crime family, saw her talent, and began to groom her for the embrace. She was talented enough to make the scales of his vampiric line look like natural tattoos. He kept her hooked, and reliant on the clan for drugs, as he taught her about the truth of Set and the universe. He followed a Typhonic tradition colored largely by the Japanese mythical Yamata no Orochi, a many headed, world-ending, snakelike beast. This snake was the one that Set fought and consumed in the darkness of the primordial sea. Ryn took well enough to the teachings, but never quite at heart, being the skeptic she was.
Her embrace, after years of attempted teaching, was hasty, and colored by the bias and impulses of her hot-blooded warrior sire. He locked her away one night, in 1984, angry at her continued reliance on the lies and chains of the Aeons, leaving her to the shock of withdrawal. He hoped to finally teach her the lesson that her chains could be cast off at any time, be it drug addiction or the arbitrary morality of the doomed physical world. She, instead, died of shock, alone, in the dark, cold basement of a tattoo parlor in the backstreets of Tokyo. Unable to let his prospective student go, in a moment of impulse and uncharacteristic sentimentality, he embraced Ryn.
Her body had cast off the need for drugs in the process of dying, but her mind had not. She could no longer feel the rush of cocaine or the euphoria of heroin, but she could still feel the sting of a needle, and she relished in what little she could feel, an addiction she harbors to this day. Furious at her sire, for her death at his hands, Ryn left Japan. With eternity to explore the world, and a body no longer shackled by mortal needs, Ryn traveled and worked on perfecting her art form. To fulfil her vice, she has gotten hundreds of tattoos from all over the world, and has made just as many friends, kindred and mortal alike.
After the disappearance of the red star in 2009, Ryn moved from Amsterdam to Oddhaven, where she set up a shop in Greene Village, next to the apartment building she now lives in. The formation of the Independent Alliance in 2011 solidified her roll as the Setite consul. Jolene took a liking to her, Ryn being popular with mortals and vampires alike. She avidly pressures Ryn to go to services at the temple to this day, but still recognized, at the time, Ryn’s value as a secular intersect representative. In 2011 Jolene personally requested Ryn’s service as Consul for the Oddhaven Setites.
"Hold still. I don't wanna mess up... Listen, I know it hurts, so relish in it for a bit, and stop squirming so much, o.k.?" -- Ryn Nakamura
