The late night was a particularly dark one, with the only light in Frederica's apartment coming from the soft glow of her laptop. Work had been dry lately, but she seemed to have finally found an offer right in her area. Jessica Summers. 17 years old. Blonde, average height, below average weight. Will begin baby-sitting one 8-year-old boy at 17 Park Avenue for entire weekend. Keep an eye on her. Keep child safe. Record everything. It was conveniently nearby, and offering much better money than such a job normally would. She would have normally ignored a job that seemed nothing more than voyeuristic trash, but the words "Keep child safe" made it stand out. Especially with money becoming tight as the dry patch on the Onion continued. And she could always request more information from the client before taking it, though it was seldom given, even when the job didn't seem half as mysterious as this one did.

It's glorified babysitting, right? For FIVE BITCOIN? I'm sold. Frederica quickly penned the email:
Hi, here's a link to my resume: bit.ly/XXXXXXXXXX I heard you were interested in someone to watch and guard a child. I'm interested in this position but have some questions. Who are you in relation to the child? Not asking names, just asking relation. Strictly business. What do you think will happen to the child? On what date will this job take place? Is lethal force authorized? Thank you, OnionnaBugeisha
She leaned her chair back onto two legs, and ran her hands through her hair. Glancing over at her empty cup of ramen and her half-finished gin and tonic, she couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic for her college days, where it was just investigation. She had to shake that thought from her head. She clicked send.

Almost immediately, a response came in:
Money covers anonymity. Summers begins watching child this Friday. You begin recording at the same time, sent to us real-time. Lethal force authorized if necessary. In or out?
It seemed whoever was paying wasn't the talkative sort.

Prompt, and smart. I like it.
She replies one word:
In.
Frederica had a day and a half to prepare. She'd be spending that scoping the place, and making sure that there were access points and visible points throughout the house, as well as a place she can park my truck that wouldn't attract too much attention.

The address was in a well-to-do uptown area, filled with upper-middle class houses, décor, and cars. Houses had enough space between them to have decently sized yards, but otherwise were packed together on both sides on the street, each house being almost identical in size and form, with the only splashes of individuality coming from color and decorations on the yard. She'd need to be somewhat creative, as her truck would no doubt stick out in such an area, especially with the close proximity of so many neighbors who might become suspicious if she simply parked for days on end. On the bright side, spacious windows did mean that the house would be easy to keep a watch on. Given the instructions Record everything, though, more action may be needed.

All right. I guess bugging the place is the only option. Frederica knew she had to move in to bug the place, and get everything assembled and ready. She was going to stash a gun in the front lawn, so that when she came running if something bad happened, she'd be able to grab it on the way in. She was going to park on a side street for some of the day, and move it occasionally, and do frequent walk-bys to make sure everything was okay in the house. She'd use the remaining time talking to neighbors to see if she could possibly set up a stakeout location, given her background as a PI.It'll be hard, but it shouldn't be impossible to get a legitimate stakeout position for at least a couple of hours. That'd make my life significantly easier.
(((OOC: I want to do the following: check to see if the house is empty, and either wait for it to be empty, or attempt to open the doors using lockpicks n shit set up some bugs around the house that will send me audio that she can splice together using the computer to get an idea of what's going on in the house stash a gun somewhere she'd remember near the front door leave
after Fredi's left, I'd like her to try to convince one of the three neighbors across the street to let her spend saturday or sunday afternoon in a stakeout position near the house.
What are the rolls I would do for this?)))

((Well, let's just take this one action at a time, and we'll see how each goes and build more organically.))
Parking the truck on a side street, Frederica did her first walk-by, trying to appear as though she belonged there as much as possible. It was midday, and at a cursory glance no one appeared to be home- there were no cars in the driveway and no lights on inside- which would make sense if the family was all at school or work. Some of the neighbors, however, were home, with a mix of retirees, housewives, and someone working from home gauging from what she could see from the spacious windows of the house style that dominated the neighborhood. The streets were relatively empty, but Frederica could tell at least one retired couple across the street of her target house were watching her, and possibly others.
