Siobhán groaned internally as the real name of the ship came into view; how had she managed to misread it so badly? She'd have to acquit herself extremely well in the battle to come if she wanted to live that one down.
The smell of gunpowder floated through the air as she moved forward to engage. The enemy sailor's swing had appeared to leave him open; she stepped into range and swung her own cutlass up in a diagonal slash, aiming to disembowel the crewman in front of her. She could only hope she wouldn't get blood, or worse, anywhere she could taste it. As much as raids made her pulse race, as much as she loved the moments of clarity and pure focus that came in the midst of a fight, sometimes combat had its downsides.

Siobhan: 4 Dex + 2 Melee: iZsDeBHO 5 successes So, 5 rolls for each success + 2 strength + 2 for sword: 2 successes, and none soaked because swords deal lethal damage, so the crewman is now hurt
Crewman: 3 Dex + 2 Melee -1 Hurt: 3 successes So, 3 successes + 3 strength + 2 sword: 1 success, likewise none soaked for lethal damage (Siobhan is still mortal), so Siobhan is bruisedFeel free to make your own rolls, by the way. I think it'll help to get a grasp of the system. Not that I mind, as I could use some practice with it as well.
The Captain, sensing the opening in her opponent's attack, darted in and slashed across his abdomen. Jerking backward at her unexpectedly aggressive action, he managed to avoid being completely eviscerated, but a nasty gash was opened across his chest. Between his last-minute panicked move backward, and Siobhan moving in so unexpectedly, his swing which was aimed at her neck was now well off target. However, the sword still bit into her upper arm- painful, but not debilitating in anyway. Moving back to give some more distance between himself and his opponent, the crewman narrowed his eyes but lashed out to strike again, this time with a thrust despite wielding a cutlass, no doubt in an effort to keep her at bay. ··························
