Character Name: Leila Monroe
Character Type: NPC
Supernatural Type: Vampire
Clan: Lasombra
Sect: Sabbat
Titles: Priscus, Officer in Command of the Oddhaven Crusade
(Leila Monroe is a canonical Vampire: the Masquerade character; information on her game statistics, personality and backstory can be found here and in the Revised edition game supplement Children of the Night. This post will expand her canonical story to cover her involvement in Oddhaven.)
For most of the Sabbat, what they feared during their Sect’s Fourth Civil War was that it would mean the end of Caine’s Sword. What Leila Monroe feared most was that it would mean the end of her career. The Los Angeles Crusade had been what her sire had groomed her for since before her Embrace, it was what she’d been working towards for all sixty-two years of her Unlife, and it was what would give legitimacy to her self-proclaimed title of Priscus.
Instead of the glorious victory of which she’d always dreamed, the LA Crusade resulted in a defeat so thorough that it marked end of the Gehenna Crusade globally. Fortunately for Leila, she had the foresight to recognize Temoch as the strongest contender early on in the ensuing Civil War and, after the revelations about the Tal’Mahe’Ra’s infiltration came to light, any blame she might have received was shifted.
Though still living in exile from her home city, which is at present thoroughly under the control of the Anarchs, Leila’s status as Priscus is now officially recognized in the Consistory and she has been thriving in Mexico City. It is from here that she remotely oversees the early stages of the Oddhaven Crusade, a task given to her by the Regent. Once the initial infiltration and preparation is complete, she intends to arrive in Oddhaven to command its conquest personally.
