Harsh winds blew through the cramped roads in swan grove. It was a winter thunderstorm, the howling of the wind periodically broken by the explosive claps of thunder in the night sky. Not many people were about on the streets. Cars with their windshield wipers on full tilt drove through periodically, working folk coming home late from the office, looking for the warmth of their homes after a hard day of work.
Only a few people wandered the streets this night, and a large portion of those few had a gathering to attend. Young high schoolers in thick raincoats giggled and gossiped as they made their way towards a decrepit apartment building high in the hills of Swan Grove. They approached the door in groups of two or three waiting excitedly out in the rain to be buzzed in. What awaited them inside was occult blessing and power from Abigail, the one who had taken on the mantle of the demon. She had purportedly become worthy enough to be possessed by a demon that had once given favor and luck in exchange for human blood. Abigail was now the vessel of this being and demanded nothing less than perfection and loyalty from each of the eager young cultists knocking at her door.
Thunder clapped outside the window behind Abigail. She sat upon a makeshift throne of red velvet pillows and fine silks on one side of the living room in her haven. The room was lit by white Christmas lights strung along the tops of the walls near the ceilings. Many satanic works of art hung the walls, mostly painted by various cultists in an attempt to appease and pleasure their demonic patron. A large pentagram enclosed in a circle was drawn in chalk in the middle of the room, and many pillows and blankets surrounded it now occupied by eager cultists. The members of the flock socialized and gossiped about their weeks, exclaiming how excited they were to see each other at today's gathering, eager to be part of the fortune ritual.
The Vampire looked out upon her herd. She saw many people from various high schools all across Oddhaven. Even some of her few college student members were attending tonight. She saw a few new faces in the crowd, but they seemed like the usual goth teenage sort. Abigail was used to this, she was used to the lie. She had become accustomed to a few new faces that might stay or go. Oftentimes their rituals were written off as parlor trickery by the new, but the believers would become devout members of the herd. Abigail's lie about her vampiric nature helped her keep the masquerade. Any who did leave and speak of her would dismiss her as an odd blood drinking child. Should the Camarilla enforcers hear of her exploits, they would know her only as a fake demon worshiper, not a breaker of the masquerade.
A young, dark haired woman, wearing a grey PINK hoodie and galaxy themed leggings, walked excitedly up towards Abigail. She bowed before her, and spoke in a high-pitched, grating tone that would warrant Abi sucking her dry, and leaving her in the gutter, were the girl's parents not so wealthy and her blood not so incredibly rich and potent.
"Hey there, Oh, Dark One, bringer of fortune and misery alike! It is sooo good to see you! I found someone new to join the Flock. They are so excited to meet you! Omigod you're gonna looooove her!" This was Janna, one of the only reasons that the herd had not entirely thinned out. She would organize food for the gatherings, and was one of Abi's biggest recruiters. Why such a popular, charismatic girl was into the occult Abigail had no idea. She would often see Janna go off, with many of the more handsome male members of the cult, to other empty apartments after the rituals were done. From the sounds Abigail could hear, it was very clear that Janna was into some unconventional entertainment. This perversion and rebellion may have been a part of why Janna was so fervent a member of the cult, but honestly her habits and tastes for the perverse were unimportant. All Abi knew was that this girl helped keep the flock happy and numerous.
"I'm going to bring her over. Sabrina met her at that one vape shop last week after the last gathering. She's so cool! She's funny and pretty and her style is just like yours! We promised to bring her, and she, like, already believes in demons. Her skin is so pretty; I think you'll really like her blood, Dark One." Janna waved Sabrina over, giving her a look that said 'quickly, before the Dark One says no!'
