With a cold and terrible efficiency, the black tendril broke the guard's neck in a single motion. Luz took a moment to sup lightly from the dead guard's neck before dragging him back to the designated body pit of the scullery, while Gabriella moved ahead unseen. Ascending halfway up the stairs that the recently dead guard had been patrolling near, she looked past the banisters to see a wide hall with four doors, two on each side, and a pair of double doors, one slightly ajar, at the far end. Over the near end of the hall was a large, semi-circular window, designed to show the wealth of the home's residents by way of its intricate glasswork. This guy's a mook so I'm just letting you instakill him since you got the drop on him and didn't fail on any of your last rolls

Gabriella moved forward as quietly as possible towards the door that was ajar. As she approached, she took note of the window and peered through it, looking out at the night, but more importantly, looking to see if the guard shift had changed. If the absence of the guard they killed were noticed, it would be imperative for her and Luz to make a hasty exit. She tried to take note of whether or not there was a way to open the window. Escape was just as important as infiltration.
With that she moved up to each door as quietly as possible and pressed her ear down near the foot of each, listening for any possible voices or sounds that may be inside. She also took note of any light that may be coming out from underneath any of the doors. She planned to do this for each until finally moving to the last and attempting to peer into the crack while listening for signs of life.
She hoped all were asleep within. Being conscious while dying at her sister's hands seemed to be an awful experience to all those who suffered the misfortune. Perhaps she could ease their passing before Luz got to them. Her sister's zeal for punishing those who opposed the Sabbat was admirable, but oftentimes led to unnecessary unpleasantness, and a few too many mangled limbs for Gabriella's liking.

Gabriella, continuing to move with deft stealth, noted that the window was far too large and grand to open, though she could see that no one had come to relive the dead guard. Continuing down the hall she could hear the sound of deep, restful breathing through each of the doors on the halls' sides. She drew closer to the slightly open doors at the end of the hall, from about a half meter away she could hear nothing on the other side. Neither could she see anything of note through the crack, though her view of the room beyond was obviously limited. Gabriella rolls Dex 3 + Stealth 2

Gabriella counted her blessings, relieved that the inhabitants were asleep. If she could find Santa Anna, and kill him while he slept, they could leave unnoticed and without any unnecessary torture. She had not seemed to arouse any guards or lookouts in the lighted room, and figured she and Luz would deal with it after checking the other rooms. Why give away the element of surprise? She made her way back to Luz, quickly and quietly, to inform her sister of her plan.
"Hermana, ellos duermen! Necesitamos simplemente sofocarlos en su sueno. This will be easy. In then out, no need for more!" she said in an intense excited whisper, "Gracias el dio! Pero, there is a light in the room at the end of the hallway. I fear that Santa Anna is yet awake in there. We must check the other rooms before we go in there to keep the edge of our surprise sharp."
Luz nodded, and proceeded to follow her sister up the stairs. "I'll check the left rooms you check the right." Luz whispered to Gabriella. The two sisters went to the first doors on either side of the hallway. Luz was excited. She could taste immanent victory. The Ivory tower would be dealt a heavy blow this night. With her sister and the Sword of Caine at her side, no task was impossible to Luz. This was the hunt. This made her more alive that she ever had been before she was dead. If it was even possible, Luz, at this moment, felt something akin to happiness.

No sooner had the whispered plan exited Gabriella's lips then it was followed by a sudden cry of pain. Luz's eyes fixed for a moment on the rapier blade that had burst through Gabriella's midsection in a rapid thrust before following it back to its wielder. The man's cloak swirled about him dynamically as he recovered from his strike back to the top of the stairs with unusual speed, and Luz could clearly see fangs extended and slightly luminous eyes both revealing the interloper's Cainite nature and his delight at the ambush he had sprung on the two intruders. Someone rolls Dexterity 4 + Stealth 1 to ambush the sisters

Happiness is a funny thing. While pleasant, it is fleeting and not very powerful in comparison to other emotions. Emotions like rage. The fleeting happiness fell away, and Luz felt rage. The Camarilla had sent one of their horrid ilk to defend a mortal, and this cur had the gall to stab her sister! No one had the right to harm Gabriella, and Luz would send this filthy leech all the way to hell for doing so. Luz was smart enough not to shout in rage and instead activated the blood within her veins. The blood of Caine flooded her body and she began to become one with the darkness around her. Her curly black hair became shadowy, wispy, and wild as her cold lifeless features blurred into the shadows around her. She would take on the form of darkness and destroy the being before her. Gabriella recoiled in shock as the blade left her gut. She moved as quickly as she could behind a corner, watching the attacker intently, as the blood she had just consumed coursed to her wound, healing it with rapid speed. She was panicked. Were she alive and breathing she would be hyperventilating. There weren't supposed to be any kindred here. Their intelligence must have been wrong, this was not according to the plan at all. She drew her two daggers, and readied them as she healed. This may not have been accounted for, but I'm not going to let the bastard get away with running me through!
Luz uses two blood points in one turn (capable because she is generation 4) to undergo the black metamorphosis.
Gabriella uses two blood points (capable because she is generation 4 having the same sire as Luz) To heal as many health levels as she can.

As Gabriella's unliving flesh mended, Luz began to incant the foul call that initiates the Black Metamorphosis. The Camarilla warrior lunged at Luz, looking to make another decisive blow; this only turned into a glancing scratch as Luz twisted in response but it was enough to spoil her control over the Abyssal energies she was summoning. Out of the shallow wound on her side suddenly flowed a torrent of living darkness which coagulated into four sizable pools. From each of these pools bust a grotesque and grasping tendril. One of these tendrils writhed and withered, its pool closing behind it as physical reality rejected something so utterly abhorrent to its laws. The others proved more resilient than reality and each grabbed one of the three combatants and held them aloft. Using the supernatural speed of his Clan, the Camarilla adroitly slipped out of the demon appendage's grasp and delivered a series of deft cuts which shredded the living darkness in a blur, causing its pool to dry up in response. The other two monstrosities held tight despite the sisters' best efforts to break free. Luz felt a sharp jerking as the tendril that held her began to retract, pulling her toward its pool. As she felt the otherworldly darkness begin to engulf her, Luz saw that Gabriella was being likewise drawn in. The last thing she saw before total dark overcame her was her sister vanishing into the inky black. *** Time lost all meaning for Luz as she floated in absolute darkness, the only sensation a freezing yet silky cold running over her bare skin. The young vampire simultaneously felt terror more profound than even the Red Fear and absolute assurance of safety and belonging. She was pliant and peaceful yet inflamed with every mortal and immortal passion, and other alien ones she could neither identify nor describe. How long she drifted in this ecstatically agonizing void before the voice began could not be gauged in a place like this. "...You are mine...I am your Mother...I love you..." the voice could not come from any Cainite or Kine and it enticed with a voluptuous terror that smothered all but the impulse to absolute devotion. Gabriella sends two blood, putting her at twelve BP, and heals two Lethal damage putting her at Hurt (-1) health level.

"Que Diablo... Que eres? Quien eres?" Luz spoke into the muddy nothingness. "Tu estas mi madre?"
It was terrifying and wondrous. Luz peered into the unfathomable darkness and looked for her parent. Her first thought was that this must be the progenitor, the founder of their clan. This however was impossible, for the Lasombra had destroyed their antideluvian, or so Ricardo told her. She felt compelled, pulled to love. The sort of love she felt only for Gabriella.
Gabriella
"Madre... Mi hermana… Mi hermana! Madre, Donde esta Gabriella, Madre? Madre!
Luz screamed into the alien darkness, the antithesis of her name. Mother may have been here, but her sister was nowhere in sight. She needed to find Gabriella. If Gabriella were here she could figure out what was going on.

"Yes...Yes...I am right here...You are safe in my arms...Gabriella is safe in my arms...Your mortal parents only made your flesh, your soul is my heritage...Your Sire only changed that flesh...I wove your essence before time began...Only I can take care of you...Only I can take care of Gabriella...Trust me...Love me...Obey me..." As Luz opened her mouth to reply, a sudden burst filled it. It was as though the darkness was bleeding into her mouth and it tasted sweeter, richer, more potent than any vitae that had ever crossed her lips. Unlike hot blood though, this was freezing cold as it flowed down her throat and entered her veins. As this elixir filled her, Luz could feel her Beast arise in delight, the black liquid driving it into mad awakening. Luz felt the Beast devouring her Humanity between gulps of the heady substance. "...Feed, my daughter...feed..." Luz will now make a degeneration check, and will continue to do so each turn until she either succeeds or hits 0 Humanity. As this prelude is meant to be set during Luz's Path trial, she would have Humanity 3, Conscious 1 based on the rules in the V20 corebook about a Humanity character adopting a Path. +1 difficulty (for 9) this roll because Luz played along with the Darkness and submitted to the sensations rather than resisting

"No! Yo te controlo!" Luz shouted at her beast as she fought the darkness. This thing was not her mother. Had she not reminded Luz of Ricardo, had she shown her Gabriella, she might have listened to this thing. Had she not filled Luz with some alien matter, put entirely apart from the four natural elements, she may have went to the darkness. But the Beast loved it. The beast relished in this darkness, and that was unacceptable.
The beast existed to serve Luz, not the other way around. Her gifts were hers, not the beast's, and certainly not this... Thing's. Luz was the master of her own fate, and her own power, not that of some alien being.

"...Your mortal parents didn't love you...they gave you to that monster...your Sire doesn't love you...he only sees what he can gain from you...I am your Mother...I loved you before you were born...before the jealous god of men brought creation out of darkness...Only I can take care of you...only I can protect you...And all I ask is that you love me...serve me...worship me..." Luz repeated the tenets of Power and the Inner Voice, hearing the words in her mind as her sire had taught them. Yet the Beast seemed unimpressed, ravenously it consumed feasting upon Luz's soul, glutting itself on her rapidly unraveling psyche. Resisting gives Luz -1 difficulty for 7

"Get out! Get out of me! Mi Hermana, Dame la!" Luz writhed against the darkness in one final attempt to shove this being out of her, to push the beast aside. If she couldn't be saved by Ricardo, and her mother and father never offered any solace, the least she could do was hold onto what mattered. The sword of Caine, and most importantly, her sister.

Luz summoned up all the strength she had in herself, reaching down she drew on everything she valued: Gabriella, her pride, the Sabbat. All that she had accomplished and all she ever loved she raised up as a bulwark against this alien force and her own Beast. ...And it wasn't enough. The Beast pounced upon her soul, devouring it until no trace of who Luz had been was left and only primal impulse and impression remained. Her memories, thoughts and human reason gone, the animal that had been Luz felt only the ecstasy the Darkness filled her with. Luz was now an infant in the Abyssal night of her new Mother's home and, like a babe, played in the infinite, eternal joy of her narrowly controlled world. When Luz hungered, Mother fed her daughter more of her own shadow blood; and not for a moment was Luz free of her Mother's watchful gaze. In the shadows of the Abyss, Luz experienced a second childhood. She learned to speak with the other beings that dwelled in her Mother's home; with them she played torturous games of soul-searing torture, which filled her with both divine agony and hellish delight as she took turns being victim and victimizer with her new siblings. Then her new soul, weaved by her Mother's careful touch, came of adolescence, and she was taught how to be Luz Elicia Apaganza Bastilo again. Mother taught her how to recall the memories of her old life, how to speak the languages of mortals again and how to follow the ways of the Sabbat. And Luz cried rivers of blood for she knew she was about to be sent away from her home. Mother kissed away Luz's tears and whispered, "...Do not despair...You will always be bound to me by my love...Your very essence is my heritage...You are always with me...My will is everything you are...But a good daughter must serve her Mother...You are a good daughter and will serve...Do not despair...I shall sing you asleep every dawn...I shall kiss you awake every night..." Luz hissed angrily as she beheld light for the first time since her rebirth as her true self. Slowly her eyes adjusted to the horrid, mortal world that was so foreign to her childhood home of the Abyss. She was back mere minutes after she had first been drawn in. It hurt her to think of her false life before Mother rescued her, but as she watched the Toreador guard being torn asunder by the multiple tendrils that grasped his limbs and neck, Luz was able to orient herself in earthly time. The tendrils faded away as the Camarilla vampire's dismembered body collapsed into ash. Gabriella was kneeling on the floor, fearful tears of blood dripping conservatively down her cheeks. The remaining mortal guards in the house, having been drawn in by Gabriella's initial shout upon being stabbed, had been paralyzed with dread as they'd watched the Abyssal display. And only now, upon the living shadows' final disappearance, did they muster the resolve to run away in a panicked mass. Final roll at 7 difficulty
tmKAFwcPp_ Failure
Gabriella successfully resisted the entity. If Luz attempts to be honest with Gabriella about what happened, Luz will instead be compelled to lie that she also successfully resisted.

Luz looked over at Gabriella. She had not seen her in the Abyss. Mother had never shown Gabriella to her. Luz hoped that her sister in Caine was also her sister in the True Dark. She looked expectantly over at the crying kindred a few feet from her, and crawled hands and knees over to her, grasping her hands.
"Did you hear her? Did you hear... Mother? What did she say to you? Where were you, Gabriella? I couldn't find you..." Spanish felt wrong in her mouth. An imitation of something that was long gone. At least it felt like it was long gone. She remembered dragging her old name up from the shadows of her dark soul, only an echo of its former self, but it came from her memory nonetheless. But then again, just because Luz remembered being human doesn't mean that she was one. Just because Luz remembered being Luz doesn't mean that remained so.
Luz waited expectantly on Gabriella's reply. Together they could work torturous wonders upon the mistake that YHWH barfed into existence. A sinking feeling began to sit in her gut, however. As she looked on at the crying, bleeding, kindred before her, she feared that these tears of agony were not in response to leaving Mother's embrace, but for considering Mother monstrous.
"Gabriella?"

Gabriella looked over at her sister. She looked at Luz. She had lost control of the shadows. She had brought her... there. Outside of time, outside of space. Hell. it had been so horridly cold, and Mother had been there. Mother had tugged at her soul. Gabriella had known it was wrong from the start, she had raged against Mother as she tried to devour her soul, her everlasting soul. It was awful. She had been tortured for so long, worrying for herself and Luz. Her Humanity was all that had saved her. Only once having her soul ravaged by the blackness did she realize she couldn't succumb to malice, and hatred. She had to persist.
"The devil spoke to me, and I cast her aside." Gabriella said with conviction, red streaks streaming down her face, chilled and frosty like ice, as if she had just come from the arctic wastes. "She tried to destroy my soul. I wouldn't let her. I couldn't. I couldn't. That monster will never have me. Her words were lies."
Gabriella shook in fear and rage, trying her best to make sense of the alien experience. The Sabbat hadn't saved her in the darkness, her humanity had. She had been so ready to cast it aside, like it was worthless, when it was far from. It was the only light in the darkness. Both the darkness of night and the darkness of the Abyssal void that stood outside reality.
Luz's heart dropped. She had no sister. All she had was Mother now. It took all she could to hold back a scream of anguish and rage. How could this cur reject mother's gifts? She offered the cool embrace of the Abyss, the orgasmic pleasures of torture and pain. Gabriella, rejected Mother's love. No wonder she had not been there. No wonder she hadn't joined in play. She was separate from both her mother and her siblings now, and the only one who might have joined her in Mother's crusade had rejected the revelations of the dark. She hated her. She hated her. Gabriella had left her alone. Her only sister in undeath had left her alone.
This sadness and anger welled from an odd corner of her soul. This feeling was unfamiliar, unsimilar to the feelings of rapture and searing pain that tantalized her in the abyss. This feeling was alien, not unlike that of a worldly memory, biting at the walls of her mind and leaking through into her still heart. Gabriella had left her alone. Where was Gabriella when Luz needed her?
Luz put on her face and lied, like she had to Roberto, and the servants many years before, "La Diabla could not rend my soul from me either. Neither of us are weak. We have persisted. Ricardo would be proud. We tell no one of this. We must complete our trial. We put the darkness behind us and we persist. That is all that matters now. That is all that we can do."
With that, Luz walked up the stairs, through the ash and into the bedrooms of the family, scanning them for the cowering humans. Luz would have fun with this torture. She was upset and needed to feel alive again. She missed Mother already, but she would make her proud.
